Last week saw the finals of my local surfing competition. The award ceremony was so long. Everybody thanked everything and everyone.Every official got an award and eachone had their turn on the podium. The beach marshall, the flag bearers and the siren sounders all thanked all the others for thanking them. The Mayor got an award and had a big chat about something, bla, bla, i'm great, bla bla, i'm doing it all for you,bla bla, i'm one the boys really,bla, bla.The sun was belting down and by the time the surfers got their awards most spectators had left. I hung around 'cause i wanted to see what the surfers would do at presentation. Well true to form they didn't say much. They waved their trophies and got lost. After all they weren't the stars of the show. The sponsors, surfing pictures guys and officialdom all craned for their piece of the media pile.
